Well, summer is almost over, and I realized I haven't even updated this thing in like 3 months!
Jordan is now working at our church, The Church at Brook Hills, as the Children's Ministry Associate, and I am at the end of my first full month of working as an RN at Children's Hospital! It's crazy to see how J and I are finally in the jobs we had always talked about when we were dating and engaged... last year was full of school for me and a random but great job for Jordan... but now we're on the path of doing the jobs we feel the Lord has called us to! What a fabulous feeling and blessing! J is also starting at Southern Seminary this fall, by taking one on-line class while still here and working full time - what a man! So, I think that our Fall will consist of many more hours and nights at Barnes and Noble while Jordan reads and I enjoy the magazines without buying a single one :) love it.
We have no idea what the next year holds, much less the next 6 months! All we know is that we are where the Lord wants us to be right now, and for us, that's enough. We are resting in the knowledge that He will keep guiding us, no matter the situation.

pieces of the puzzle
I have a job offer!! It's at Children's Hospital here in Birmingham, AL - a magnet hospital and the major hospital for children in the state of Alabama. I'm totally pumped. The only catch is... the shift they're offering me is 3p-11p, 7 days on, 7 days off. So, for all of you who know Jordan, you know that would mean I basically wouldn't see him every other week, because we all know he's in bed before 11 like every night. (except when a new ps3 game is in the mix.. like tonight!) SO, there's the dilemma. Do I go with it, hope they have another position opening up soon that I could switch to on the same floor, or do I wait and say no to this job, but see what else opens up hopefully soon?! (btw. there are no other nurse managers in the hospital interviewing currently for positions - per the nurse recruiter) so would another position even open up sometime this summer, and could I even get it?!
There's the catch. hmm. Well, thankfully J and I are headed to the beach this weekend with our incredible small group, and we'll have plenty of time to talk about it and pray about it too!
Seems like pieces of the puzzle keep falling into place for us to potentially stay here in Birmingham instead of heading to Louisville right now.
Now just to wait and see if J gets the job at Brook Hills after his next interview next Wednesday... yet another puzzle piece we would love to have laid down already!!! This patience and waiting thing is hard!
On another note, only 21 days till graduation!!!!!!! holy moly, can hardly believe it. I am so thankful for my preceptorship, as I am getting SO much experience with nursing skills that I previously felt a little unsure about. What a blessing.
but for today... FLORIDA HERE WE COME!!! :)

What a week thus far!
Well, thanks to all of you who have asked about my interview yesterday and let me know you were thinking about me... it went great! I was excited to even have a possibility of working at Children's Hospital here in Birmingham, and now I could potentially have more than one option of a unit to work on! (I'm being hopeful-we'll have to see) The nurses I met were really great, and if this works out then I think I would be working on a great floor and learn a LOT too.
Jordan has a meeting/interview today about his potential new job at our church! This would be a dream job for him, and it would be such a blessing if it worked out. We're trying not to get our hopes up too much, but we are still pretty stinkin excited!!! The position would be in the children's ministry, something he has done for years at different churches, and I have NO doubt he would be perfect for this job. Let's just pray they feel the same way!
Things are kinda winding down for me in school... have a research project to finish with my group, a couple take home tests, the rest of my preceptorship in the ED... and I'M DONE. Absolutely insane. There's no way I'm graduating in a MONTH!! It's kindof mind-boggling to me that we don't know where we'll be in a month and a week. We could be moving to Louisville, KY... or we could be moving about 5 miles down the road here in Birmingham. It is and will be our prayer that the Lord will open and close doors for us, so that we will know exactly where he wants us to be!
Lord, please show us the way!!! :)

New Experiences
A little bit about my day in the ER today. Not medical? This might not win the award for favorite post of the year... but the bottom is a little introspective! I'm trying!
I have spent time in the ICUs in the hospitals. I have seen codes. But today was a little different. I was in the middle of one. Did chest compressions on a 75 year old man from a nursing home.
I was with my preceptor working on another new patient in the ER when she came back in there and said "full arrest arriving in 1-2 minutes" so immediately she said go put some gloves on and help. I was stoked - I can be an adrenaline junky. The paramedics came rolling into the ER with a man on a stretcher, on whom they were doing chest compressions and bagging him as they walked. He was brought into the resussitation room where we started doing CPR and hooking him up to all our equipment.
I traded out with another girl doing compressions, and it was an odd experience. Sparing you the details, I have never thought a chest could bend like that, and actually cause a heart to pump and give the patient a pulse. WOW.
The gentleman didn't make it, and I for some reason didn't have a meltdown. In talking to Jordan about this since I've been home, we have decided that I'm not heartless, just somehow given the ability to almost remove myself from the situation and not get completely worked up. After all, it looked just like he was sleeping after he passed away, nothing else. For some reason, the Lord knew this man's last day on earth was today, and He didn't allow us to get this man's heart working on its own again. Maybe that's why I was okay after he didn't make it. The Lord's plan is perfect, and when it is someone's last day here, it is sad, but all part of the Lord's perfect plan. Also part of it was the fact I had not taken care of him other than trying to save his life. I hadn't seen his interactions with his family, and didn't know him really at all, besides his name and code status.
I did, however, feel tremendous empathy and compassion for the family as they came in over the next few hours, and even though I didn't, I just wanted to give them all a hug.
All that is to say, it was a day of firsts. I'm thinking about and praying for this family as they walk through the next days, months, and years... knowing how it feels to have lost someone you loved who lived a long and God-honoring life, and knowing how much you can miss them even years down the road. My sweet Oma and Opa - mom's parents. What a legacy they left, though!!
This was kinda deep, who knew I had it in me.
I'm so thankful for a sweet husband who lets me dump all this on him at the end of the day, and then rubs my feet while waiting for the pizza to cook in the oven, because I'm just too pooped to cook dinner and so he threw a pizza in. What a wonderful man I have :) but most of all, what a wonderful Savior.

Stepping into the 21st century...
Well, I've decided to give this a try, as I have always thought blogging was kinda odd... but here I am. Guess it's not so weird after all! :) We have so much going on in our lives that it takes forever to let everyone know where the Lord is taking us, or how He is changing our path! So, I thought this might help keep everyone updated, help me to be a little more introspective (which I am NOT at all), and maybe provide a little encouragement to someone along the way... That's a lot of things I hope to accomplish from a little blog! Here we go!
For those of you thinking... when did Noelle get married? Or when did Jordan get married? Well, we were married last June 7, 2008 and are now living in Birmingham, AL while I finish nursing school at Samford in May. J has been working faithfully this past year to support us while I finish, and has been an amazing provider for us. The Lord was so faithful to provide him with a great job!
Now that you are caught up on our lives, we are currently trying to find out where the Lord wants us since I am graduating in a MONTH. We might be going to Kentucky for Jordan to start seminary at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, but now there's a chance we might be staying in Birmingham due to a job for Jordan! The Lord has put us in a pattern of waiting, which we are terrible at... and He knows that and we think is the reason He is making us wait! He wants to refine us, and as defiant children, we are struggling with being content with knowing that the Lord knows where he wants us, even when we don't! But, that's where He has us, and thankfully He is in charge and we are not.
There's the latest on our lives, we would love to be updated on yours!
Much love.
